Ingredients

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, browned and cooled slightly
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • ½ cup (100g) white sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups (340g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups (270g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Instructions

  • Brown the butter: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat until it foams and turns golden brown. Stir constantly and remove once it smells nutty. Let cool for 10 minutes.
  • Mix sugars and butter: In a large bowl, combine brown and white sugar with the brown butter. Beat until smooth.
  • Add wet ingredients: Mix in eggs and vanilla extract until creamy.
  • Combine dry ingredients: In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture.
  • Fold in chocolate chips: Use a spatula to gently mix them in — the star of your chocolate chip cookie recipe!
  • Chill the dough: Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to enhance flavor and prevent spreading.
  • Scoop and bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop dough balls (about 2 tbsp each) on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake: Cook for 11–13 minutes or until edges are golden brown and centers look slightly soft.
  • Cool: Let cookies rest 5 minutes on the tray before transferring to a wire rack. Enjoy warm — the best way to experience homemade comfort!

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips — they make all the difference.
  • Don’t overmix once you add flour to keep cookies soft.
  • Chill the dough — essential for the perfect chewy texture.
  • Sprinkle a tiny pinch of sea salt before baking for bakery-style flavor.
